Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

We do not collect any information about you or your browsing. Nothing you do with this extension is sent to our website or any server we operate. All SEO analysis happens entirely inside your own browser; the extension is not tracking you, your activity, or the pages you visit.

Overview

SEO Action Plan (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that analyses web pages for SEO data. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension accesses, how that information is used, and your rights as a user.

Summary: The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data or browsing data. All analysis runs locally inside your browser.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect any of the following:

  • Browsing history or URLs you visit
  • Page content or HTML source of pages you analyse
  • Personal information (name, email address, IP address)
  • Usage analytics or telemetry
  • Crash reports or error logs sent to external servers
  • Device identifiers or fingerprinting data

2. How the Extension Works

When you activate SEO Action Plan on a page, the extension injects a content script that reads the page’s DOM (the in-browser representation of the HTML). This data is processed entirely within your browser using Chrome Extension APIs and is never sent to any external server operated by us.

The extension uses the following Chrome permissions for the following purposes:

  • activeTab – reads the currently active tab’s content for on-demand SEO analysis
  • scripting – injects the content analysis script into the page when you trigger the extension
  • storage – saves your extension settings (such as your preferred AI provider and UI preferences) locally on your device using chrome.storage.local
  • webRequest – reads HTTP response headers (e.g., X-Robots-Tag, noindex directives) for the indexing checker feature
  • contextMenus – adds a right-click context menu option to quickly open the SEO analysis panel
  • host_permissions (<all_urls>) – allows the extension to analyze any webpage you choose to run it on; the extension only activates when you explicitly trigger it and never monitors pages passively

3. AI SEO Assistant (Optional Feature)

The Extension includes an optional AI SEO Assistant. This feature is entirely opt-in and disabled by default.

If you choose to use the AI assistant:

  • You must provide your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or DeepSeek.
  • Your API key is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. It is never sent to our servers.
  • When you request an AI analysis, the extension sends the SEO data extracted from the current page directly to your chosen AI provider’s API using your API key.
  • You are subject to the privacy policy and terms of service of the AI provider you choose. We recommend reviewing your chosen provider’s policy before use.
  • We do not see, receive, log, or store any data sent to or received from the AI provider.

4. Local Storage

The extension stores the following information locally on your device using chrome.storage.local:

  • Your chosen AI provider preference (e.g. “claude” or “openai”)
  • Your AI API key (if you enter one for the optional AI feature)
  • Any other extension UI preferences you configure

This data exists only on your device and is accessible only by the extension. It is never transmitted to us or any third party.

5. Third-Party Services

The Extension does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party network calls that may occur are:

  • Requests to your chosen AI provider’s API (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or DeepSeek) when you explicitly use the optional AI assistant feature with your own API key.
  • The page speed feature uses data from the Chrome Performance API, which is entirely local and makes no network requests.

6. Children’s Privacy

Anyone can use the extension, as everything is run on the browser, and none of the information is collected or processed by our extension

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
