Right-click any webpage, or the extension’s toolbar icon, to reach shortcuts you won’t find inside the pop-up itself: multi-engine indexing checks, on-page link highlighting, and a duplicate-text search you can run on any selected text.
Two separate menus #
SEO Action Plan adds options in two places, and each does different things. Right-clicking on the page itself gives you the on-page tools: highlighting, duplicate search, and a few quick validator links. Right-clicking the extension’s icon in your Chrome toolbar gives you a second, separate menu built around running quick checks against the page you’re currently on, without opening the pop-up at all.
Right-click on the page #
- Open SEO Action Plan: jumps straight to the pop-up without needing to click the toolbar icon.
- Highlight Internal Links: visually marks every internal link on the live page.
- Highlight External Links: marks every link pointing to a different domain.
- Highlight Nofollow Links: marks links carrying a nofollow attribute.
- Remove All Highlights: clears whichever highlighting is currently active.
- Check Page Speed: opens a quick performance check for the page.
- Test Rich Results: opens Google’s Rich Results Test for the page.
- Check if Indexed: opens a Google site: search for the current page.
There’s also a separate option that only shows up when you’ve selected text on the page: right-click the selection and choose Search for Duplicates to check whether that specific sentence or phrase appears elsewhere on the page. This is a faster path than opening the Content tab’s duplicate checker when you already have your eye on a specific block of text.
Right-click the toolbar icon #
This menu is built for speed rather than depth. Right-click the SEO Action Plan icon (not the page), and you’ll see quick links to Rich Results Test and PageSpeed Insights, a separator, then indexing checks for four search engines in a row: Google, Bing, Baidu, and Yandex, each one opening a site: search for the current page on that engine. Below that sit Web Archive and View Page Source. It’s the same idea as the Tools tab, just reachable without opening the pop-up first.
Why check indexing on more than Google #
Most SEO work is understandably Google-first, but Bing still drives meaningful traffic in some markets, and Baidu and Yandex matter a great deal if you’re targeting China or Russia and neighboring markets specifically. Being able to check all four with one right-click, instead of manually building a site: search for each, saves real time when you’re auditing a site with an international audience. For the full picture on how indexing status is determined, see how to check if a page is blocked from indexing, and for more on the Tools tab equivalents of these same shortcuts, see how to use the Tools tab.
Common questions #
Right-click anywhere on a normal webpage for one set of options (highlighting, duplicate search, quick validators), or right-click the SEO Action Plan icon in your toolbar for a second, separate menu focused on opening the extension and running quick checks against the current page.
Yes. The toolbar icon’s right-click menu includes one-click indexing checks for Google, Bing, Baidu, and Yandex, each of which opens a site: search for the current page on that engine.
Right-click the page again and choose Remove All Highlights from the SEO Action Plan menu. This clears any internal, external, or nofollow highlighting you turned on without needing to reload the page.
